New song & Lyric Video

As mentioned in the previous update, i've recently been in the studio to record a new song called "Worst Mistake" .  This may be released as a single at some point with some remixes.
I've also just created a lyric video for the song (which you can see to your left here)
->

As usual, i've worked with my long-time producer, Russ Hayes at Orange Sound in Penmaenmawr, North Wales, to record the vocals and put the final shine on the mix. An
absolutely amazing guy and a top class producer and mix engineer.  I couldn't imagine working with anyone else.

Anyway, I hope you like the track.  Please, if you can, subscribe and follow my YouTube channel.  Every like and thumbs-up helps :-)

Welcome back to Future Perfect

After a long hiatus, i'm glad to be back in the saddle, so to speak.

It's been an interesting few years since my last update and i'm sorry about that. Life stuff kind of got in the way, in a very big way!

First and foremost though, i'm glad to get my website domain back after being hijacked after a unscrupulous scammer swept it up and tried to sell it for an extortionate amount of money, which I simply refused to do and neither could I afford.  Obviously, nobody bought it, so it expired and I've now got it back.

Another thing is that Future Perfect is now a solo project after Rebecca and I parted ways.  We are still friends, but unfortunately, she is no longer involved in the project.  I wish her the very best and the music we made still remains and her contributions are going to be included in the next album, Touch, which I am now in the final stages of completing.

Another decision that I have had to make is that the new album will not be available for general release on CD.  There are many factors that have made me come to this decision, but primarily, it's simply down to economics and the fact the music is no longer being bought by the masses on CD, especially for an underground independent artist such as myself.  As my label (Conzoom) is based in Germany, the cost of importing the minimal amount of CD's that I can order (300 CDs) to the UK would be so prohibitive that it would not be cost effective for me to do so.  I still have a significant amount of CDs from the last two releases available as most people now consume their music via streaming.

For gigs/tours etc, I will be producing limited runs of the new album on CD and collectors item MiniDisc.  They will also be on sale via the webshop, but these will be available according to demand.  I still have stocks available of "Escape" and "After The Fall" on CD, so these will be available alongside the digital releases.

For the new album, I have almost (finally) completed the writing and recording of this.  8 tracks have now been completed and recorded and I have two songs left to complete.  The music for these have been written and recorded and I now have to finish the lyrics for them.  I am back in the studio again with my producer, Russ Hayes, to work on these, with a date booked for at the beginning of September

Ch...Ch...Ch... Changes......

I'm not sure how to approach this without being just honest and direct about it.
This may divide people due to their individual points of view and/or sensibilities but there's not much I can do about it.

So..... over the last decade or so, quite privately i've been slowly coming to terms with something that's haunted me pretty much my entire life, since early childhood really.  I've always struggled with my own sense of self and never really felt that I've been quite living the life that I should have, and after some counselling, soul searching and help from some lovely people, in 2020, I came out as a Transgender woman.

I've not gone all out on social media and done a big announcement with all of this due to the fact of over the last few years, the political landscape has been quite hostile towards Transgender and Non Binary people and have been used as political footballs in the so-called "culture wars".  So in my private life and career, i've been living as Simone Owen whilst maintaining my old identity of "Simon" for all matters to do with Future Perfect.

Why is this?  Well, mainly, as i've mentioned above, i've not wanted to fall victim to online keyboard warriors using my issues to attack me whilst coming to terms with it and whilst i've been dealing with some serious "life" stuff.  Mainly, though, it's because i'm an intensely private person and wish to keep my private life, private, to protect myself and my family, plus as a musician, I want the music to speak for itself rather than having anything else distracting from that.

So yes, from now, i'm going to be looking quite different that I did before.  I'm happy, in a loving relationship with a wonderful lady entering a new phase of my life.  If you're ok with that, thank you, you mean the world to me  If not, then, many thanks, see you later but i'm done with hiding away.
